MailerLite is one of the cheapest reputable email platforms at almost every list size, and its pricing is refreshingly simple: three plans, one price per subscriber tier, and every paid plan gets the full feature set. The differences are send limits, seats, support and how many automations, forms and pages you can build.
Every price below is from mailerlite.com/pricing. Starting prices and plan limits were re-checked on 10 October 2026; the list-size tables are from September 2026. We run Klaviyo for ecommerce brands, and the honest answer is that for plenty of businesses MailerLite is the right, cheaper choice.
How much does MailerLite cost?
As of 10 October 2026, MailerLite is free for up to 250 subscribers. Paid plans start at $12 a month (Comfort) and $25 a month (Power) for 500 subscribers, or $10.80 and $22.50 billed yearly. MailerLite bills on active subscribers. Unsubscribed and bounced subscribers don’t count.

MailerLite cost by list size
Monthly-billing prices in USD from MailerLite’s pricing page, September 2026, with the yearly-billing monthly equivalent in brackets. The Klaviyo column is Klaviyo’s email plan at the same count from klaviyo.com/pricing on the same date.
| Subscribers | Comfort | Power | Klaviyo (email) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 | $12 ($10.80) | $25 ($22.50) | $20 |
| 1,000 | $19 ($17.10) | $39 ($35.10) | $30 |
| 2,500 | $33 ($29.70) | $49 ($44.10) | $60 |
| 5,000 | $49 ($44.10) | $69 ($62.10) | $100 |
| 10,000 | $89 ($80.10) | $129 ($116.10) | $150 |
| 25,000 | $179 ($161.10) | $239 ($215.10) | $400 |
| 50,000 | $319 ($287.10) | $389 ($350.10) | $720 |
| 100,000 | $439 ($395.10) | $489 ($440.10) | $1,380 |
At 25,000 subscribers MailerLite Comfort is less than half Klaviyo’s email plan; at 100,000 it’s about a third. That gap is real, and it’s why the question isn’t “which is cheaper” but “what do you need the platform to do?”
The hidden costs in MailerLite pricing
The cumulative subscriber count
MailerLite counts subscribers cumulatively within each billing cycle: anyone who was active at any point in the cycle counts toward your limit, even if you delete them later. The count resets on your billing anniversary.
MailerLite’s own example: delete subscribers on April 1st with a billing date of April 5th, and they still count until April 4th. Clean your list a few days before your billing date, and time big imports just after it.
Automatic tier upgrades
On paid plans, if your active subscribers pass your tier, MailerLite raises your limit and charges your card for the next tier. You get a warning as you approach it. On the free plan, sending locks instead.
Send limits on Comfort
Comfort gives you 10x the ceiling of your subscriber tier each month, calculated on the top of the tier, not your actual count. On the up-to-1,000 tier you get 10,000 emails whether you have 200 subscribers or 900. If you hit the limit, you either upgrade to Power for unlimited sending or wait for the reset.
No marketing SMS
MailerLite’s marketing plans cover email, forms, landing pages and websites. Its pricing page lists SMS only under its separate transactional product, so if SMS campaigns matter to you, you’ll need another tool alongside it.
Free plan support ends
Free accounts get community support only, and premium features you tested in the 14-day trial switch off afterwards (your data stays).
MailerLite vs other platforms on price
What 5,000 and 25,000 contacts cost across the platforms in this series, monthly billing, as of September 2026:
| Platform and plan | 5,000 contacts | 25,000 contacts | Counts unsubscribes? |
|---|---|---|---|
| MailerLite Comfort | $49 | $179 | No |
| MailerLite Power | $69 | $239 | No |
| Mailchimp Standard | $100 | $310 | Yes |
| Omnisend Standard | $81 | $282 | No |
| Constant Contact Standard | $110 | $310 | No (per its support team) |
| Drip | $89 | $369 | Priced on active people |
| Klaviyo (email) | $100 | $400 | No (bills active profiles) |
Sources: each vendor’s pricing page. See our Mailchimp, Omnisend, Constant Contact and Drip pricing guides for the full tables. Brevo prices on email volume, so it isn’t directly comparable here.
MailerLite is the cheapest contact-priced option in the group at both sizes. What you give up is ecommerce depth and SMS, which is where the next section comes in.
When MailerLite is cheaper than Klaviyo, and when Klaviyo pays for itself
MailerLite is the right call when:
- You’re a creator, publisher, service business or early-stage brand sending newsletters and simple automations.
- Budget matters more than depth. At 10,000 subscribers you save about $60 a month on Comfort versus Klaviyo; at 50,000, about $400.
- You want websites, landing pages and paid newsletters in the same tool. MailerLite bundles them.
Klaviyo pays for itself when:
- You run an ecommerce store and flows carry your revenue. Klaviyo’s triggers, segments and product feeds are built on order and browsing data: abandoned cart with dynamic product blocks, replenishment timed to predicted next order date, win-back based on purchase cadence.
- You want email and SMS on one profile. MailerLite has no marketing SMS; Klaviyo’s mobile messaging sits in the same flows. See our Klaviyo SMS pricing guide.
- Revenue per recipient is what you measure. Klaviyo’s benchmark report shows automated flows earning far more per recipient than campaigns. On a store doing seven figures, that’s where the platform fee is won or lost.

How to keep your MailerLite bill down
- Pay yearly if you’re staying. 10% off.
- Clean before your billing date, not after. The cumulative count means timing matters.
- Stay on Comfort unless you need unlimited sends, seats or automations.
- Check your tier ceiling. 5,001 subscribers puts you in the next band.
Moving from MailerLite to Klaviyo
When a growing store outgrows newsletter-style automation, our MailerLite to Klaviyo migration moves your subscribers, consent and automations and rebuilds them on Klaviyo’s ecommerce data. Not sure it’s time yet? Get a free audit and we’ll tell you straight.

/ Frequently Asked Questions
Q.01 How much does MailerLite cost? +
/ Answer
As of 10 October 2026, MailerLite is free for up to 250 subscribers, and paid plans start at $12 a month for Comfort and $25 a month for Power at 500 subscribers, billed monthly. In September 2026, 5,000 subscribers cost $49 on Comfort and $69 on Power, and 50,000 cost $319 and $389. Yearly billing saves 10%, and lists above 200,000 are quoted.
Q.02 What is the cheapest email marketing service? +
/ Answer
For a small list, a free plan: MailerLite's covers 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month, and Brevo's allows 300 emails a day. Among paid plans, MailerLite is one of the cheapest contact-based options: $49 a month for 5,000 subscribers on Comfort, as of September 2026. Brevo can be cheaper still for big lists you email rarely, because it prices on volume.
Q.03 How much does it cost to send 1,000 emails with MailerLite? +
/ Answer
MailerLite prices on subscribers, not emails. Comfort gives you ten times your subscriber tier in monthly sends, so the 1,000-subscriber tier at $19 a month includes 10,000 emails, about $1.90 per 1,000. Power includes unlimited emails under a fair use policy. The free plan includes 2,500 emails a month, as of October 2026.
Q.04 Does MailerLite count unsubscribed contacts? +
/ Answer
No. MailerLite bills on active subscribers; unsubscribed and bounced subscribers don't count, as of September 2026. But it uses a cumulative count within each billing cycle: anyone active at any point in the cycle counts, even if you delete them later. Your count resets on your billing anniversary, so clean your list a few days before it, not after.
Q.05 What's better than MailerLite? +
/ Answer
It depends on what you need more of. For ecommerce automation built on order data, Klaviyo and Omnisend are stronger, with native SMS. For newsletters and creators, MailerLite is already one of the best-value options. For large lists sent infrequently, Brevo's volume-based pricing can be cheaper. Choose on the features you'll use, not on the feature list.
Q.06 What happens if I go over my MailerLite subscriber limit? +
/ Answer
On paid plans, MailerLite automatically raises your subscriber limit to the next tier and charges your card for it, with a warning in your account as you get close. On the free plan, sending locks once you pass 250 active subscribers until you upgrade or remove subscribers, as of September 2026.
