Omnisend is the platform most often shortlisted against Klaviyo by Shopify brands, and price is usually why. Its pricing page leads with “save up to 35% vs. Klaviyo”. Some of that is real and some depends on how you use it, so here are the actual numbers.
Every figure below comes from omnisend.com/pricing and Omnisend’s help centre. Starting prices, plan limits and billing rules were re-checked on 10 October 2026; the list-size table is from Omnisend’s calculator in September 2026. We are an official partner of both Omnisend and Klaviyo, so we will tell you when Omnisend is the cheaper, better call.
How much does Omnisend cost?
As of 10 October 2026, Omnisend is free for up to 250 contacts, then $16 a month on Standard (500 contacts) and $59 a month on Pro (up to 2,500 contacts). At 5,000 contacts, its calculator showed Standard at $81 and Pro at $90 a month in September 2026. Pay three months upfront and Omnisend takes 30% off that first payment.

Billing is based on contacts, and Omnisend is explicit about who counts: you’re billed for subscribers and non-subscribers who received automated messages, and unsubscribed contacts aren’t billed.

A few details that matter:
- The free plan is not a trial. Omnisend says free users get the features of paid plans; the limits are 250 contacts and 500 emails a month.
- Standard can buy add-ons. Personalised content and personalised send time start at $5 a month each and scale with your list.
- SMS is a separate subscription. Since 4 May 2026, new accounts can only buy SMS on Pro, through a separate SMS credits subscription. Pro plans bought before then (“Legacy Pro”) include SMS credits equal to the bill until 26 October 2026, when they move to the current Pro automatically.
- Account expert support is free for any Standard or Pro account paying $400 a month or more.
- Free migration. Omnisend offers to move your flows, lists, segments and templates within about five days.
Omnisend cost by list size
Monthly list prices in USD from Omnisend’s pricing calculator (monthly billing), September 2026. The Klaviyo column is Klaviyo’s email plan at the same count from klaviyo.com/pricing on the same date.
| Contacts | Standard | Pro | Klaviyo (email) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 | $16 | $59 | $20 |
| 1,000 | $20 | $59 | $30 |
| 3,000 | $50 | $70 | $70 |
| 5,000 | $81 | $90 | $100 |
| 10,000 | $132 | $150 | $150 |
| 25,000 | $282 | $400 | $400 |
| 50,000 | $413 | $715 | $720 |
| 100,000 | $900 | $1,334 | $1,380 |
Two things stand out:
- Standard is cheaper than Klaviyo at every size. Roughly 12% to 43% cheaper depending on the tier, with the biggest gaps at 25,000 contacts and above.
- Pro and Klaviyo are almost the same price from 3,000 to 100,000 contacts. Pro adds unlimited email under a fair use policy. SMS is extra on both.
With the 3-months-upfront offer, the first payment is 30% lower (Standard at 5,000 contacts shows $56.70 a month for the first three months). After that you’re billed monthly at the list price.
The hidden costs in Omnisend pricing
Send limits on Standard
Standard allows 12 emails per contact tier per month. At 5,000 contacts that’s 60,000 emails, which is plenty for weekly campaigns plus flows but tight if you send daily during a sale. If you exceed the limit on Free or Standard, Omnisend offers an upgrade and asks you to confirm it before anything changes.
SMS pricing varies by country and volume
The headline “SMS from $0.007” applies to high-volume US sends. At lower volume, the calculator showed $50 buying 5,882 US messages, about $0.0085 each. International SMS costs more and varies by country; MMS is available only to US and Canadian recipients.
If your Pro plan predates 4 May 2026, its bonus credits can cover a modest SMS programme until 26 October 2026. After that, budget SMS as its own line on Omnisend, the same as on Klaviyo.
Who counts as billable
You pay for subscribers and non-subscribers who received automated messages. A customer who never opted in to marketing but received a transactional-style automation can count. Unsubscribed contacts don’t.
Add-ons on Standard
The AI personalisation features that are standard on Pro (dynamic content, product recommender, personalised send time) are paid add-ons on Standard, starting at $5 a month each and rising with your list.
Is Omnisend any good?
For Shopify stores that want solid ecommerce automations, forms and SMS without a steep learning curve, yes. It is a well-built, well-supported platform, and its pricing is transparent.
Where it falls behind Klaviyo is depth: predictive analytics, complex segmentation on custom events and catalogue data, and reporting across big, multi-store programmes.
When Omnisend is cheaper than Klaviyo, and when Klaviyo pays for itself
Omnisend is the better buy when:
- You’re a small or mid-sized Shopify store with standard flows. Welcome, abandoned cart, browse, post-purchase. Standard does these well for roughly 12% to 43% less than Klaviyo’s list price.
- Your category sits close to Klaviyo’s acceptable use policy, and Omnisend’s allows it. Klaviyo prohibits pharmaceutical products and medical therapies on every channel, and CBD and cannabis on SMS in the US and Canada (acceptable use policy, 9 April 2026). Omnisend has its own limits: its acceptable use policy (updated 30 April 2026) prohibits prescription medications, including drugs sold for research purposes, on every channel, and cannabis, THC and CBD on SMS. For peptides and other regulated products, the platform’s policy is checked and its written sign-off obtained first, whichever platform you pick.
- You want someone else to do the migration for free. Omnisend’s offer is genuine.
Klaviyo pays for itself when:
- Segmentation drives your revenue. Predicted next order date, churn risk, lifetime value and product affinity are native in Klaviyo. For supplement and replenishment brands, that is the difference between a reorder flow that fires on time and one that guesses.
- You’re scaling past about 50,000 profiles or running several stores. Klaviyo’s data platform, reporting and integrations ecosystem handle complexity better.
- Your list is clean. Klaviyo bills on active profiles. Suppress the dead weight and its price gap to Omnisend Pro disappears.
When we worked with Better Body Co., the levers were flow performance and segmentation depth, not platform cost, and email’s share of revenue went from about 10% to the 20-25% target range. That is the kind of gain that makes a $20-a-month difference irrelevant, and it is also why we’d say stay on Omnisend if you aren’t going to use that depth.

How to keep your Omnisend bill down
- Start on Standard. Only move to Pro when you need unlimited sends, advanced reporting or SMS, which new accounts can only buy on Pro.
- Take the 3-month prepay if you’re staying. 30% off the first payment.
- Watch who receives automations. Non-subscribers who get automated messages count towards your bill.
- On Legacy Pro, spend the SMS credits before 26 October 2026. After that date they stop being included.
Staying on Omnisend, or moving?
We’re an official Omnisend partner and an official Klaviyo partner, so either answer works for us. If Omnisend fits your store, our Omnisend agency team will get more out of it. If you have outgrown its segmentation, our Omnisend to Klaviyo migration moves your contacts, consent and flows and rebuilds them on Klaviyo’s data model. Not sure which? / Frequently Asked Questions
Q.01 How much is an Omnisend subscription? +
/ Answer
As of September 2026, Omnisend's Standard plan costs $16 a month and Pro $59 a month at the smallest tiers, and there is a free plan for 250 contacts. Prices rise with contacts: at 5,000 contacts Standard is $81 and Pro $90 a month; at 50,000 contacts Standard is $413 and Pro $715. Paying three months upfront saves 30%.
Q.02 Is Omnisend free? +
/ Answer
Omnisend has a free plan with no time limit: up to 250 contacts, 500 emails a month and 500 web push notifications, as of 10 October 2026. Omnisend says the free plan includes the features of its paid plans, including automations, segmentation and forms. It is a genuine starting point for a very small store.
Q.03 What is better, Klaviyo or Omnisend? +
/ Answer
Omnisend is simpler and cheaper on email for small and mid-sized Shopify stores: Standard undercuts Klaviyo at every list size. Klaviyo has deeper segmentation, predictive analytics and reporting, which matter more as your list and catalogue grow. SMS no longer tips it Omnisend's way, because since 4 May 2026 new accounts buy SMS separately and only on Pro.
Q.04 Which is better, Mailchimp or Omnisend? +
/ Answer
For ecommerce, Omnisend. It was built around store data, abandoned cart and product recommendation automations, and it doesn't bill unsubscribed contacts, while Mailchimp does. As of September 2026, 5,000 contacts cost $81 a month on Omnisend Standard against $100 on Mailchimp Standard. For simple newsletters with no store attached, Mailchimp is fine.
Q.05 How much does it cost to send 1,000 emails with Omnisend? +
/ Answer
Omnisend prices on contacts rather than emails. Standard allows 12 emails per contact tier per month, so the 500-contact plan at $16 includes 6,000 emails, about $2.67 per 1,000. Pro includes unlimited email under a fair use policy. On the free plan, 500 emails a month cost nothing. Prices are as of September 2026.
Q.06 How much does Omnisend SMS cost? +
/ Answer
As of September 2026, Omnisend advertises SMS from $0.007 per message, a rate that applies to high-volume US sends. At lower volume the price is higher: its calculator showed $50 buying 5,882 US messages, about $0.0085 each. Since 4 May 2026, new accounts can only buy SMS on Pro, as a separate SMS credits subscription. Pro plans bought before that date keep bonus credits until they move to the current Pro on 26 October 2026. MMS is available to US and Canadian recipients only.
