Klaviyo email deliverability consultant for ecommerce brands.

Email deliverability consulting for ecommerce brands on Klaviyo. Your emails can't convert if they don't arrive, and deliverability problems kill revenue silently: open rates drop, flows underperform, and campaigns miss their targets because mail is landing in spam or being rejected outright. We find the root cause, fix it in the right order, from authentication gaps to sender reputation to list hygiene, and show you the Postmaster Tools trend afterwards.

Built for ecommerce and DTC brands sending to opted-in subscribers on Klaviyo. Not cold email, not lead-gen outreach. Want a quick read first? Run our free email deliverability checker on your sending domain. It reads your SPF, DKIM, DMARC and BIMI records and explains each fix in plain English.

The rules changed

Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook bulk sender requirements.

The rules changed, and the providers now enforce them. In February 2024 Gmail and Yahoo set hard requirements for bulk senders. Google counts you as one once you send close to 5,000 messages to personal Gmail accounts in a day, and that status never expires. From November 2025 Gmail moved to temporary and permanent rejections for mail that fails. Microsoft applied similar authentication rules to Outlook.com, Hotmail, and Live addresses from May 2025. One campaign to a list with around 5,000 Gmail subscribers is enough to cross the line.

SPF and DKIM, both

RuleAll senders need at least one. Bulk senders to Gmail and Yahoo need both, passing, on the domain you send from.

We checkWe check that Klaviyo is signing with your domain, not klaviyomail.com, and that your SPF record is not over its lookup limit.

A published DMARC record

RuleBulk senders must publish DMARC. A policy of p=none is the minimum Gmail, Yahoo, and Outlook accept.

We checkWe read your DMARC reports before recommending any move to quarantine or reject. Tightening policy blind breaks legitimate mail.

DMARC alignment

RuleThe domain in your From address has to match the SPF or DKIM domain. In Klaviyo, that means a branded sending domain on your own domain.

We checkWe set up or repair the branded sending domain so the "via klaviyomail.com" label disappears and DMARC passes on alignment.

One-click unsubscribe

RuleMarketing mail needs a List-Unsubscribe header that supports one-click (RFC 8058) plus a visible link in the body. Yahoo asks for removal within 2 days; Google recommends 48 hours.

We checkWe confirm the header is present on campaigns and flows, and that unsubscribes suppress across every list, not one.

Spam rate below 0.3%

RuleGoogle asks senders to stay below 0.1% and never reach 0.3% as reported in Postmaster Tools. Yahoo sets the same 0.3% ceiling.

We checkWe connect Google Postmaster Tools, read the trend, and trace spikes back to the sends and segments that caused them.

The deliverability audit

What a deliverability audit checks.

Six checks, one fix order. An email deliverability audit that stops at "your DMARC record exists" is a DNS lookup, not an audit. Ours reads the account the way a mailbox provider does, then tells you what to fix first. You get written findings, the fix sequence, and a 90-day roadmap within 24 hours of access. It is free.

01

Authentication and alignment

SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records, the Klaviyo branded sending domain, and whether your From address actually aligns. Half-finished counts as broken.

02

Reputation

Google Postmaster Tools spam rate and domain reputation, bounce and complaint trends in Klaviyo, a blocklist check on your sending domain, and the signs of spam traps: old imports, purchased or scraped addresses, and hard bounces that cluster at one provider. Then whether the pattern points at one segment or the whole program.

03

List hygiene

Sign-up sources, old imports, role addresses, unengaged profiles still being mailed, and suppression rules, measured against Klaviyo's own bounce-rate targets: under 1% is healthy, 1-2% needs work, over 2% needs attention now. Weight you are carrying that produces no lift.

04

Sending pattern

Full-list blasts, volume spikes around launches and BFCM, send frequency by segment, and whether engaged audiences are actually doing the work.

05

Unsubscribe and compliance

One-click unsubscribe headers, visible unsubscribe links, preference pages, and whether opt-outs are honoured everywhere they should be.

06

Content and placement

Seed testing for inbox placement across the major mailbox providers, link and image weight, and the templates that spam filters push into Promotions or spam.

Bounce-rate targets: Klaviyo, understanding and monitoring email deliverability performance (updated 10 March 2026).

Pricing

What deliverability work costs.

The diagnosis is free. The fix is a project with a fixed fee. The monitoring is part of the retainer, not a second bill. No hourly meter running while someone works out what is wrong. Published ranges are in USD.

Authentication fixes take effect once DNS changes propagate. Reputation takes longer, because mailbox providers need weeks of better engagement before they trust you again, so the fix plan is sequenced, not promised in days. When you compare deliverability consultants, check whether the quote covers the fix and the follow-up monitoring, or only the report. See every engagement type on the pricing page.

Who does the work

Email deliverability services for Klaviyo brands.

Deliverability work at Email Optimize is done by our team, on the method Pete Devkota built. Pete holds a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering and spent the early 2010s on flight-control systems before moving into ecommerce in 2014. He founded Email Optimize in 2017. Since then the agency has worked on 800+ ecommerce brands and $250M+ in attributed email and SMS revenue, as an official Klaviyo partner.

The engineering habit matters here. Deliverability is not a creative problem. It is a system with inputs you can measure: authentication, complaint rate, engagement, volume. Change one input, read the result, change the next. Adjectives do not move a Postmaster Tools graph.

Deliverability is also the first layer of our DORTA method: Delivered, Opened, Read, Trusted, Acted. If mail is not delivered, every fix further down the list is wasted work. So we start here.

Tool or consultant

Deliverability tools vs a deliverability consultant.

A tool tells you what. Not why. Deliverability help comes in three shapes. List verification tools clean addresses. DMARC platforms monitor authentication. Freelancers on marketplaces fix DNS records. All three are useful, and none of them will tell you that the weekly full-list blast you added last quarter is why Gmail stopped trusting you.

An ecommerce deliverability problem usually lives in the sending strategy, not the DNS. Who you mail, how often, and what happens to people who stop opening. That is why we audit authentication, reputation, list hygiene, and segmentation together, and why the fix often involves sending less, not more. We win by removing things.

Frequently asked

Questions about Klaviyo email deliverability.

Q.01 What does an email deliverability consultant do? +

Answer

An email deliverability consultant finds out why your email is not reaching the inbox and fixes it in the right order. For an ecommerce brand on Klaviyo that means checking SPF, DKIM, and DMARC alignment, the branded sending domain, Google Postmaster Tools spam rate and domain reputation, list hygiene, and sending patterns, then writing a fix plan and executing it. A tool can tell you a DNS record is missing. A consultant tells you which segment is burning your reputation and what to stop sending.

Q.02 How much does an email deliverability consultant cost? +

Answer

Ours starts free. The deliverability audit is a written report within 24 hours of access, with the fix order and a 90-day roadmap. If it finds work, the fix is a fixed-scope project: defined deliverables, a timeline, and a single fee agreed upfront. Our projects run $3-15K USD depending on scope, and a deliverability fix with an authentication audit is one of the project types on our pricing page. Ongoing deliverability monitoring and maintenance is part of a full management retainer, typically $3-12K USD a month and scoped to your volume, not a separate bill. Published ranges are in USD. We do not bill by the hour. When you compare consultants, check whether the quote covers the fix and the follow-up monitoring, or only the report.

Q.03 How do you improve Klaviyo email deliverability? +

Answer

Six things, roughly in this order. Authenticate: SPF and DKIM passing on your own domain, a published DMARC record, and a From address that aligns, which in Klaviyo means a branded sending domain. Keep complaints low: Google's email sender guidelines ask for a spam rate below 0.1% in Postmaster Tools and never 0.3% or higher, and Yahoo's Sender Hub sets the same 0.3% ceiling. Mail the people who engage, and stop mailing the ones who have not opened in months. Only add people who opted in, with no pre-ticked boxes. Make leaving easy: one-click unsubscribe plus a visible link, honoured within 2 days. Raise sending volume gradually, especially on a new domain. Most fixes mean sending less to the wrong people, not more to everyone.

Q.04 Do I need an email deliverability expert, or can I fix it myself? +

Answer

If the problem is a missing DNS record, you can fix it yourself in an afternoon with your domain provider and Klaviyo's help docs. If your spam rate is climbing, Gmail is rejecting mail, or revenue from email has dropped and nobody can say why, you need someone who reads the data before touching the settings. Tightening DMARC or suppressing half your list without a diagnosis can make things worse.

Q.05 What are the Gmail and Yahoo bulk sender requirements? +

Answer

Since February 2024, Gmail and Yahoo require bulk senders to authenticate with both SPF and DKIM, publish a DMARC record (p=none at minimum) with the From domain aligned to SPF or DKIM, support one-click unsubscribe with a visible unsubscribe link, and keep the spam rate below 0.3%. Google defines a bulk sender as anyone sending close to 5,000 or more messages to personal Gmail accounts in 24 hours, and that status does not expire. From November 2025 Google stepped up enforcement, with temporary and permanent rejections for mail that does not comply. Microsoft applied similar rules to Outlook.com, Hotmail, and Live addresses from May 2025.

Q.06 What is DMARC alignment, and why does Klaviyo need a branded sending domain? +

Answer

DMARC passes when the domain in your From address matches the domain that passed SPF or DKIM. On Klaviyo's default shared domain, mail is authenticated as klaviyomail.com, not your domain, so it cannot align. A branded sending domain (for example send.yourbrand.com) makes Klaviyo authenticate as you, removes the "via klaviyomail.com" label in Gmail, and lets DMARC pass.

Q.07 How long does it take to fix email deliverability? +

Answer

Authentication fixes take effect as soon as the DNS changes propagate. Reputation takes longer, because mailbox providers need to see weeks of better engagement before they trust you again. On our Popl engagement, authentication review, engagement-based suppression, and a 30-day warm-up had inbox placement at 95%+ by month two. Every account is different; the audit gives you a sequenced plan rather than a promise.

Q.08 What spam complaint rate is too high? +

Answer

Google asks senders to keep the spam rate reported in Postmaster Tools below 0.1% and to never reach 0.3%. Yahoo uses the same 0.3% ceiling. At 0.3% and above you are in the zone where Gmail filters or rejects mail and Google will not offer mitigation support. If you are consistently above 0.1%, something in your list or sending pattern needs attention now.

Q.09 What should an ecommerce brand look for in deliverability help? +

Answer

It depends on what is broken. Verification tools clean lists. DMARC platforms monitor authentication. Neither will tell you that your weekly full-list blast is the reason Gmail stopped trusting you. For an ecommerce brand on Klaviyo, the right service is one that audits authentication, reputation, list hygiene, and sending strategy together, then fixes them in order and shows you the Postmaster Tools trend afterwards. That is the work we do.

Q.10 Do you work on B2B cold email deliverability? +

Answer

No. We work with ecommerce and DTC brands sending marketing email to opted-in subscribers through Klaviyo. Cold outreach, inbox rotation, and lead-generation sending are a different discipline with different tools, and we do not do them.
