Klaviyo’s marketing now leads with AI. The homepage calls it an “autonomous B2C CRM”, and the AI section promises tools that create, resolve and optimise “autonomously”. Some of that is real and useful today. Some of it is a beta you should supervise. This guide goes through every Klaviyo AI feature we could verify on klaviyo.com and help.klaviyo.com as of September 2026: what it does, what it needs, what it costs, and whether we’d use it on a client account.
What is Klaviyo AI (K:AI)?
K:AI is Klaviyo’s umbrella name for the AI built into its platform. It covers predictive analytics (lifetime value, churn risk, next order date), generative tools that draft subject lines, emails, SMS, segments and flows, optimisation features like send-time and channel prediction, and two AI agents: Composer for marketing and Customer Agent for customer service.
Klaviyo’s AI FAQ makes one useful distinction. Machine learning and predictive analytics are core to the platform and can’t be switched off. Generative features, marked with a sparkle icon in the app, are mostly optional.

The AI agents
Composer: the AI marketing agent
Composer is Klaviyo’s headline AI product and is labelled beta. It works across email, SMS, push, WhatsApp and RCS. According to Klaviyo’s help centre, it can:
- Analyse your account data and answer performance questions.
- Audit flows, forms, templates, campaigns, SMS content and segments, and recommend changes.
- Create campaigns, flows and their messages, and segments.
Two important limits. First, it does not send or publish anything without your sign-off, and audits are advisory, so it tells you what to fix rather than fixing it. Second, Klaviyo notes content is weaker on image-heavy templates, and it suggests AI-disclosure wording on content it creates.
Pricing (September 2026): every account gets a free Composer plan that resets each 30-day cycle; the paid plan is $20 a month with four times the free capacity, with overages in $10 increments. Klaviyo’s help centre gives estimated costs per action, from a few cents to audit a campaign up to about $10 to create a complex one.
Our take: Composer is a genuinely good auditor. Asking it to review a flow for missing filters or a form for conversion blockers is a fast second opinion. Its created campaigns are solid first drafts, but they are drafts. Nobody should let it run a brand’s calendar unsupervised yet.
Customer Agent: AI customer service
Customer Agent answers customer questions (order tracking, product questions, returns) and hands off to Klaviyo Helpdesk or your existing helpdesk with the conversation history. Klaviyo says it supports 113 languages and claims 65% of questions are resolved without a human agent; that is Klaviyo’s figure, not ours. It starts with 50 free conversations. Klaviyo’s product page and its billing help article showed different paid prices in September 2026, so check the live pricing page before budgeting.
Our take: most useful for brands with heavy “where is my order” volume. Because it sits on the same profile data as your marketing, it can personalise answers in a way a standalone chatbot can’t.
Marketing agent (the earlier version)
Before Composer, Klaviyo released a “marketing agent” that scrapes your website and builds a starter plan: four campaigns, plus a sign-up form and welcome flow if you don’t have them, and abandoned cart and order confirmation flows if you’re on Shopify. It can be re-run every seven days. Handy for a brand-new account; not a substitute for a real flow architecture.
Predictive analytics: the AI that actually earns money
This is the oldest part of Klaviyo AI and the part we rely on most. Each qualifying profile gets:
- Historic, predicted and total customer lifetime value (CLV)
- Churn risk prediction
- Expected date of next order
- Average time between orders and predicted number of orders
- Predicted gender (from first name and census data)
Requirements (Klaviyo help centre): at least 500 customers who have placed a valid order, an ecommerce integration or API sending placed orders, at least 180 days of order history with orders in the last 30 days, and some customers with three or more orders. The model retrains at least weekly.
How we use it: VIP segments on predicted CLV, win-backs that trigger before the expected next order date passes, suppressing heavy discounts for customers already likely to buy, and replenishment timing for consumables. For supplement brands with 30- or 60-day cycles, expected date of next order is one of the most valuable fields in the account. See our Klaviyo segmentation guide and segmentation for supplement brands.
Generative AI for content
Email AI
On paid plans, Email AI generates sections (text, images, multi-column layouts, buttons, product blocks) or a full campaign draft from a drag-and-drop reference template. It produces three drafts per prompt with a 500-character prompt limit, and a separate tool revises existing copy. Limits are 99 generations or revisions per user per day. You add product feeds, images, alt text and URLs yourself. Brand voice guidelines, also paid, steer the tone.
Our take: good for getting past a blank page and for producing variants to test. It does not know your margins, your compliance rules or which claims you can legally make. For health and supplement brands, every AI-written line needs a human check against what you can substantiate.
Subject line assistant
Suggests three subject lines per request in campaigns and flows, regenerate as often as you like. Best used to generate challengers for subject line A/B tests, not to pick the winner.
SMS assistant
Drafts SMS copy by campaign type (promotion, product announcement, newsletter, other). Fine for promotional texts; keep it short and on brand.
Segments AI and Flows AI
Segments AI turns a plain-English description (“customers who bought twice but not in the last 90 days”) into segment conditions. Flows AI drafts a flow from a prompt. Both are paid-plan features. Both save setup time. Both need checking, because an AI-built segment that is subtly wrong will send the wrong message to thousands of people. Read the conditions before you save.
Optimisation features
- Smart Send Time tests send hours for your list across exploratory, focused and optimal sends. Email only, and tests need campaigns of 12,000+ recipients.
- Personalized Send Time picks a time per profile for campaigns (not flows) across email, SMS, push and WhatsApp, but only on the Marketing Analytics or Advanced KDP packages.
- Channel affinity predicts whether each profile prefers email, SMS or WhatsApp. It needs at least two active channels, 1,000+ profiles with a delivery on each, and 5,000+ campaign deliveries per channel in six months.
- Product recommendations can be classic or personalised per customer, excluding items already bought and out-of-stock products. Essential for large catalogues.
- AI A/B testing includes AI subject line tests on paid plans, and “personalized variations”, which predicts the better variant for each recipient but needs more than 400,000 profiles.
- Forms optimisation test runs AI experiments on form display timing, again at 400,000+ profiles. For form strategy most brands can use, see Klaviyo sign-up forms.
Klaviyo’s AI overview also lists deliverability safeguards such as flow anomaly detection, campaign deliverability monitoring, volume warnings and guided warming, plus a Klaviyo MCP server and Claude and ChatGPT apps that connect AI assistants directly to your Klaviyo data.
Klaviyo AI features for cleaning email lists
This is a common question, and the honest answer is that Klaviyo does not have a generative AI “list cleaner”. What it has is a set of tools, some model-driven, that together do the job:
- Suppression recommendations. Klaviyo flags profiles created 365+ days ago that received five or more emails in about 72 weeks and never opened or clicked, while protecting anyone with a human click or order in roughly the last six months.
- Bulk suppression with a “suppress only inactive profiles” option.
- Automatic suppression of hard bounces and addresses that soft-bounce more than seven times in a row.
- Churn risk prediction, which you can use to build at-risk segments for a last-chance win-back before suppression.
- Deliverability hub, which reports a deliverability score and bounce detail (it reports; it doesn’t clean).
Suppressed profiles don’t count toward Klaviyo billing, so this is also the quickest way to reduce your bill. Our full process, including the engagement thresholds and the sunset flow, is in how to clean your Klaviyo list without killing revenue.
Is Klaviyo’s AI worth it?
Split it into two buckets.
Proven and worth using now: predictive analytics, product recommendations, Smart Send Time on large lists, channel affinity once SMS is established, and suppression recommendations. These have been around long enough to trust, and they drive revenue or protect deliverability directly.
Useful with supervision: Composer, Email AI, Segments AI, Flows AI and the subject line and SMS assistants. They save hours on drafts and audits. They do not replace strategy, and they should never publish unreviewed.
The pattern we see in audits is brands switching on generative features while their fundamentals (welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase, segmentation, deliverability) are still default. AI polishes a well-built account. It can’t rescue a badly built one.
How to get the most from Klaviyo AI
- Meet the predictive thresholds first. Make sure orders sync correctly and you have 180 days of clean order history.
- Build predictive segments into your core flows: CLV-tiered post-purchase, churn-risk win-backs and next-order-date replenishment.
- Use generative tools for variants, not finals. Generate three, edit one, test two.
- Use Composer as an auditor. Ask it to review flows and forms, then decide what to change yourself.
- Automate list hygiene with suppression recommendations and a sunset flow.
If you’d like a second pair of eyes on how your account uses (or ignores) these features, our free Klaviyo audit covers it, and our flow automation team builds predictive data into the flows that carry revenue. New to the platform? Start with what is Klaviyo or our Klaviyo review.

/ Frequently Asked Questions
Q.01 Is Klaviyo an AI tool? +
/ Answer
Klaviyo is a marketing and customer data platform with AI built through it, branded K:AI. That includes predictive analytics such as predicted lifetime value and churn risk, generative tools for subject lines, emails, SMS, segments and flows, and two AI agents: Composer for marketing and Customer Agent for customer service. The core product still works without using any generative AI.
Q.02 What is Klaviyo Composer? +
/ Answer
Composer is Klaviyo's AI marketing agent, in beta as of September 2026. It can analyse your account data, audit flows, forms, templates and campaigns, and create campaigns, flows and segments from a prompt. It does not send or publish anything without your approval. Every account gets a free monthly allowance, with a $20 paid plan offering four times the capacity.
Q.03 Are Klaviyo's AI features free? +
/ Answer
Some are. Predictive analytics and machine learning are core to the platform, and every account gets a small free Composer allowance. But Klaviyo's help centre marks Segments AI, Email AI and Flows AI as paid-plan features, Personalized Send Time needs the Marketing Analytics or Advanced KDP package, and Customer Agent is a paid add-on after 50 free conversations.
Q.04 Does Klaviyo have AI features for cleaning email lists? +
/ Answer
Not a generative AI list cleaner. Klaviyo offers suppression recommendations that flag long-inactive profiles, bulk suppression of inactive profiles, automatic suppression of hard bounces, a deliverability hub, and a churn-risk prediction you can use in segments. Combine those with a sunset flow and you have an effective, largely automated list hygiene process.
Q.05 What do you need for Klaviyo predictive analytics to work? +
/ Answer
Klaviyo requires at least 500 customers who have placed an order, an ecommerce integration or API sending placed orders, at least 180 days of order history with orders in the last 30 days, and some customers with three or more orders. Until you meet all of these, predicted lifetime value, churn risk and expected next order date won't appear.
Q.06 Can Klaviyo AI write my emails? +
/ Answer
Yes, on paid plans. Email AI can generate sections or a full campaign draft from a drag-and-drop reference template, producing three options per prompt, and a text revision tool rewrites copy. You still add product feeds, images, alt text and links yourself, and you should edit for brand voice and claims, especially in regulated categories like supplements.
