Black Friday Email Subject Lines: 50+ for BFCM and Holidays

Original Black Friday, Cyber Monday and holiday email subject lines for ecommerce, organised by send across the 2026 calendar, with preview text and reasoning.

Table of contents

On Black Friday, your subject line competes with every other brand your subscriber has ever given an email address to. Most of those subject lines say the same thing: “BLACK FRIDAY”, a percentage, a flame emoji and an exclamation mark. The brands that win the open are rarely the loudest. They’re the most specific.

This is a working list of original Black Friday, Cyber Monday and holiday subject lines for ecommerce brands, organised by send in the order you’ll use them across the 2026 calendar. Each has preview text and a note on why it works. For the campaign calendar, segmentation and deliverability plan behind these sends, read our BFCM email marketing strategy first.

What makes a good Black Friday subject line?

A good Black Friday subject line gives the offer, its scope and its deadline in the first 30 to 40 characters, because that’s all a phone shows and every other brand is also shouting “Black Friday”. Specific numbers, honest deadlines and a clear reason to open (“bestsellers included”, “no code needed”) beat hype, capitals and emoji in a flooded inbox.

Three BFCM-specific rules:

  1. Lead with the offer, not the event. The subscriber already knows it’s Black Friday. They don’t know what you’re offering.
  2. Answer the objection in the line. “Bestsellers included”, “no code needed” and “ships before Christmas” answer questions shoppers have before they open.
  3. Keep deadlines true. The FTC’s CAN-SPAM guidance requires that the subject line “accurately reflect the content of the message”. “Final hours” three days in a row is a credibility problem as well as a compliance one.

One more 2026 wrinkle: on iPhones and Macs with Apple Intelligence message summaries switched on, Mail can show a short AI-written summary under your email instead of your preview text (Apple Support). Your subject line increasingly has to carry the message on its own. Our free Black Friday training goes deeper on what that means for your BFCM sends.

How to stand out in a flooded BFCM inbox

  • Say the offer, not the event. Your subscribers know it’s Black Friday. Tell them what’s yours.
  • Use numbers. A specific percentage, price, time or stock count gives the eye something to catch among adjectives.
  • Send each email a different angle. Launch, social proof, curation, new benefit, final call. Repeating “Black Friday sale” five times teaches people to skip you.
  • Personalise where it’s true. Early access for customers, their wishlist items, their size back in stock. A first-name token alone no longer stands out; always set a fallback.
  • One emoji at most. On Black Friday the flames and shopping bags blur together.
  • Don’t fake a thread. Gmail’s sender guidelines say not to use “Re:” or “Fwd:” unless the message really is a reply or forward.
  • Protect deliverability. The best subject line is worthless in the spam folder. Ramp volume in the weeks before and send heavier cadences only to engaged segments, as covered in the BFCM strategy guide.

Before each send, run the line and its preview text through our subject line tester to check truncation, caps, punctuation and personalisation. Then A/B test the launch email, the highest-volume send of your year. Our guide to A/B testing email subject lines explains how to call a winner.

BFCM rewards the brands that plan it as a system: list growth in October, warmed-up sending, segmented cadences, flows ready for the traffic spike, and subject lines tested before the day. Our free Black Friday training walks through the full plan, and if you’d like a second pair of eyes on your account before November, the free Klaviyo audit is the fastest way to find what to fix first.

/ Frequently Asked Questions

Q.01 What are good Black Friday email subject lines? +

/ Answer

Good Black Friday subject lines state the offer and its end date in the first 30 to 40 characters, because every brand in the inbox is also saying "Black Friday". "30% off everything, bestsellers included" or "Early access: 25% off opens now" works better than "Our biggest sale ever!!!". Specific numbers, honest deadlines and a clear reason to open beat volume and emoji.

Q.02 Should I put "Black Friday" in the subject line? +

/ Answer

Usually yes for the launch email, because subscribers are actively looking for Black Friday deals and the words help them find yours. For follow-up sends that weekend, the offer, the product or the deadline is often more useful than repeating "Black Friday" in every line. Test both on your list; there's no universal rule.

Q.03 When is Black Friday and Cyber Monday in 2026? +

/ Answer

In 2026, US Thanksgiving is Thursday 26 November, Black Friday is Friday 27 November, Small Business Saturday is 28 November, Cyber Monday is Monday 30 November and Giving Tuesday is 1 December. Many brands start VIP early access earlier in the week and run extensions into early December.

Q.04 How many emails should I send over Black Friday and Cyber Monday? +

/ Answer

Most ecommerce brands send more than usual over the BFCM period, often one or two emails a day to engaged subscribers on the key days, with resends to non-openers. The right number depends on list engagement: send more to people who opened or clicked recently and less to the wider list, to protect deliverability during the busiest week of the year.

Q.05 Do emojis help Black Friday subject lines? +

/ Answer

One emoji can help a line stand out in a crowded inbox, but on Black Friday almost everyone reaches for the same ones, so the effect shrinks. Two or more clutter the line and use up characters that phones display. A precise offer and a real deadline do more work than any emoji. Test one against none on your own list.

Q.06 What are catchy phrases for Black Friday emails? +

/ Answer

Catchy usually means specific. Phrases like "bestsellers included", "no code needed", "ends Monday midnight", "early access for customers" and "the only sale we run this year" work because they answer a shopper's real questions. Invented superlatives like "insane deals" are what every other email says, so they blend into the inbox.
